  • Hut has pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, cooker and gas provided.

  • Biv upstream of fork on true right of mangatainoka stream good station for exploring the southern part of the block.

    6. During the summer months (Dec – Feb) Fishermen may be day fishing the Rangitikei River down stream of the hut. If you wish to fish yourself please get in contact to ensure it’s available.

Mangatainoka 1 Hut

Owhaoko C Trust Block

  • Steep scruby country great for glassing and long range hunting
  • Pockets of native beech with tussock tops
  • No longer a hut or shelter, just a camping drop.
  • May need to bring in own water.
  • Good roar block.
  • Area of Mt Cameron is 2100ha

Mangamaire Junction Campsite

Owhaoko BD Trust Land

  • Campsite only.
  • Excellent fishing
  • Rivers flats.
  • Large amount of area to hunt in surrounding public land, broken beech forest, semi scrubby underneath beech in places.
  • Great access to the Southern REZ wilderness area.
  • Hunting on DOC land only, permit required.
  • Block is closed for Hunting 20 Dec – 1 March & 1June – 30 Sept yearly.

 

Te Wake Tops Hut

Owhaoko BD Trust Block

  • Open tops great for glassing and long range hunting.
  • A few native bush pockets.
  • Great roar hunting over the back of Te Wake tops down along Waingakia stream
  • 3 bunk small hut.
  • Great summer block.
  • Gas & gas cooker.
  • Pots & pans
  • Cultery & crockery
  • Area of Te Wake tops is 2300ha
  • Closed: 20 Dec – 1 March, 1 June – 30 Sept yearly. 

Owhaoko BD Trust has changed the permit conditions with regard to deer numbers shot. The new permit conditions are as follows:

• No limit on the number of Red shot.
• No shooting stags in velvet.
• No shooting of spikers at any time of the year.
• No more than 3 Sika hinds maybe taken per person at any time of the year.
• Only one 8 point Sika stag may be taken per person between 1 March- 31 May.
