Lower Ripia Hut

Te Matai Lands Trust Block

  • Mainly bush hunting some places steep, good network of tracks on ridges and spurs to get around.
  • Sika but may come across the odd red deer.
  • Bush is mix pardocarp and beech forest.
  • 4 bunk hut.
  • Gas & gas cooker.
  • Cultery & crockery.
  • Wood firebox.
  • Smaller block.
  • Area of Lower Ripia is 320ha

Hunting Conditions;

  1. Maximum of one deer per person plus one per party. (Example: 3 hunters – maximum 4 deer)
  2. DOC hunting permits are required if hunting on adjoining DOC land.
  3. No shooting stags in velvet.
  4. No night shooting or spot lighting or use of night vision equipment, infra-red and or heat detecting devices.
  5. During the Summer months (Dec-Mar) there may be day fishermen fishing the Ripia river. If you wish to fish while in the block please contact us and we can book it for you.

Upper Ripia Hut

Te Matai Lands Trust Block

  • Reasonable area of open scrub(old burn area) great for long range glassing and hunting.
  • Over summer has great numbers of deer feeding on the recovering burnt area.
  • Steep in places.
  • Mostly sika with odd red.
  • 4 bunk hut.
  • Gas & gas cooker.
  • Cultery & crockery.
  • Smaller Block.
  • Area of Upper Ripia is 370ha

  • Mainly sika with the odd red.
  • 4 bunk hut.
  • Gas & gas cooker.
  • Cultery & crockery.
  • Amazing views.
  • Area of Te matai is 350ha

  2. DOC hunting permits are required if hunting on adjoining DOC land.
  3. No shooting stags in velvet.

Upper Mohaka Hut

  • Bush hunting.
  • Great fishing for rainbows and browns.
  • Sika with odd Red.
  • 4 bunk hut.
  • Gas & gas cooker.
  • Pots & pans.
  • Cutlery & crockery.
  • Good family summer block
  • Area of Upper Mohaka is 870ha

NOTE: Bring drinking water, no tank on hut water can be collected from Mohaka river.
